Difference Between Projects & Tasks
Projects are the big things we want to create, build, document, launch, or develop. Projects have a finite lifespan and a specific due date. We chunk projects down into discrete action steps or tasks. Most importantly for me, a project warrants a recurring meeting to evaluate progress, and this discipline of a weekly project meeting is a major key to effective execution.
Tasks also have a finite lifespan with a specific due date, but they are small, discrete units of work, that are sub-components of a project or metric goal. Most importantly for me, the action must be within the control of the task owner. I teach my clients how to practice “good task hygiene” to improve clarity and accountability.
