Key Initiatives and Strategic Projects

Once you have chosen your Long-term (3 to 5 year) Strategic Moves, and used these as the context to build a SWOT analysis, we are ready to choose or confirm the Key Initiatives (or Annual Milestones) that we need to achieve in the coming 12 months, and we are ready to choose our Strategic Projects – also known as Big Rocks we will move forward in the coming quarter. These choices must address the issues described in your SWOT analysis and help you achieve your long-term strategy. Where possible, see if you can balance short-term business improvement initiatives (“improving what is”) with building long-term strategic capability (“creating what will be”).
